Building Mental Fitness through running, conversation, and community

Given the announcements over the last few weeks, I don’t think it came as a surprise to anyone that I had to postpone my Brisbane to Sydney Charity run for Gotcha4Life.

During these uncertain times, I think building Mental Fitness is more important than ever and so on Monday April 20th I’m going to start my challenge of running 21 half marathons in 21 days around my local area instead. If you are able to make a small donation to Gotcha4Life then it would be appreciated, however I’m also doing this for 3 important reasons.

Firstly, it's a selfish good deed. Research suggests that movement and mental health are inherently interconnected, and running is my drug of choice.

Secondly, it's about sharing my story to encourage others to start a conversation and to take action to be mentally healthy. I also want to introduce you to the great work of Gotcha4Life and some of their program partners.

And last but not least, this crazy period has really highlighted the importance of community. With that in mind, each day I’ll be running virtually with someone who has positively impacted my life. Before each run I will be connecting with each person via video, recording a chat with them and sharing on my socials, so you can get to meet them and understand the great things they are doing in their communities.

What exactly is this challenge?

Why am I doing this challenge and why is it so important?

And last but not least….this was the final conversation where I talk to my story with my better half ,Vicki.
